Origin:
Punjab Province, India
Description: Unknown.
Female water spirit/faerie from India.
I imagine a beautiful woman with long black hair and bright black eyes
draped in white and blue silk.
Disposition: She lures men into her embrace so that she
can kill them. You can appease her by leaving lamb meat and flowers. I can also be appeased with lamb and flowers.
I sooo want to be a jalpari when I grow up. Too bad I'm a blonde American. I'd NEVER pull it off!
ReplyDeleteI know. There has to be something more exciting than a stock broker from upstate New York.
DeleteI can be appeased that way as well. I'm with Ophelia. We can all be Jalpari!
ReplyDeleteLamb and flowers? Sounds good to me! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, put me down as another who's all for lamb (if it could be in a Gyro, even better) and flowers.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's awesome. She sounds kind of like the Irish Merrow. Really cool post and happy A-Z blogging!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Good thing I am a woman. If I ever go to India I will not have to stuff my pockets with lamb before approaching a body of water. :)
ReplyDeleteYikes - that picture is giving me the heebie jeebies! Something about the posture. I will blame you if I have nightmares tonight. :-)
ReplyDeleteWishing you continued success with the A to Z challenge,
Jocelyn
